Our Mission:

Centre Emmanuel de Cameau, established in 2006 is located a few miles from the capital of Haiti, “Port-au-Prince” has served the needs of some of Haiti’s poorest children and families of Cameau Cabaret. Years after Haiti’s epic earthquake, the numbers still defy comprehension. Approximately 230,000 people were killed in a matter of moments and 2 million others were displaced. Over 70,000 homes, businesses and public buildings were destroyed. Still reeling from the devastating earthquake of January 2010, Haiti is a dangerous place for children. With 500,000 children living in camps and many others living in slums, all lacking the protection of social and police services, children are under continued threat of exploitation and abuse.

Nearly 5,000 schools were damaged or destroyed as the ground convulsed beneath the capital of Port-au-Prince and the surrounding countryside. A major part of the re-building process and maintaining the prosperity of Haiti and its culture is providing the opportunity of education, in particularly for the children; the future. With an outpouring of aid from the public, Centre Emmanuel de Cameau has assisted with Haiti’s shift for immediate response from lifesaving to the more ambitious and endurable plan to its future architect.

With electricity powered by generators, Centre Emmanuel de Cameau educates approximately 300 students. Grades range from Kindergarten to the sixth grade. Books, school supplies and daily nutrition are provided to all students.
